25K expected at funeral for slain NYPD officer, officials say

According to the NYPD, the wake and funeral for Familia, 48, will take place Monday and Tuesday at the World Changers Church in the Bronx. Y. -- Joseph Galasso, 31, a firefighter and lifelong resident of Port Chester died suddenly on Sunday. Born July 26, 1985, in Port Chester to Richard Galasso and Beth Colasanto Galasso, the Port Chester firefighter was raised and educated in Port Chester and graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 2003. He also graduated from the Baron Institute of Technology with a certificate in mechanics. In addition to being a member of the Mellor Engine & Hose Company #3, Galasso worked as a roll off truck driver with City Carting in Stamford, Conn. He is survived by his parents Richard and Beth Galasso; his best friend and brother Daniel Galasso; maternal grandmother Dorothy Colasanto; cousin Jenifer Galasso; best friend Kristin Marino, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs Petey and Jake and cats Ritchie, and Charlie. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Church, 136 South Regent St., Port Chester. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Rye Brook.
